Can I use my Verizon Razr Cell Phone with other cell phone providers?
I just bought a razr cell phone off ebay (its a verizon one) so that I could use it abroad with an international sim card. But now I’m reading on here that verizon phones don’t work outside of the US/Verizon. Is there any possible way? And aren’t razr’s gsm compatible or something? Thanks
Unfortunately since that Razr is the Verizon model that means it is a CDMA phone. CDMA or Code division multiple access, is a technology primarily used in the U.S. If you want a phone to work internationally you will have to get one that uses GSM technology. The only carriers in the U.S. that use GSM, or Groupe Spécial Mobile, are T-mobile and Cingular. Also when purchasing a phone that you wish to use outside the U.S. make sure it is a tri-mode or quad-mode phone. This will insure that your phone will work on the same MHz frequency (900 & 1800) as those in Europe. Now if you plan on vistiing asia that’s a different story, and whole new can of worms, if need be post a question on that too.
